What would you serve with manicotti with a ricotta filling and meatballs, both sauced with a simple tomato sauce? I'm leaning toward a light Chianti but only because I can't think of anything else that might pair with both the manicotti and the meatballs.

I'd go with a Nebbiolo or a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Wouldn't say no to a Super Tuscan but those

can get pricey.

I like bubbles too and frequently serve it with starters.

I'll see what's available here (in OK). Thanks for the ideas.

wine with pasta, ricotta and meatballs

Chianti (Sangiovese) would go great with this, but the meatballs make it a heavier dish and thus I would go with a fuller Chianti rather than a light one -- a Chianti Classico or Chianti Classico Riserva. I agree with Steve that a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (which comes from Abruzzo, not from Tuscany like a Chianti -- despite the 'Montepulciano' in the name) would be perfect as well. Casale Vecchio (Farnese) makes a good wood-aged one that is well-priced.
cheers, Bonnie
