Leftover Pizza Heat up leftover pizza in a non-stick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.

Easy Deviled Eggs Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.

Expanding Frosting When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar/calories per serving.

Reheating refrigerated bread To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.

Newspaper weeds away Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

Broken Glass Use a dry cotton ball to pick up little broken glass pieces of glass-the fibers catch ones you can't see!

No More Mosquitoes Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.

Squirrel Away! To keep squirrels from eating your plants sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.

Easier thank you's When you throw a bridal/baby shower, buy a pack of thank you cards for the guest of honor. During the party, pass out the envelopes and have everyone put their address on one. When the bride/new mom sends the thank you's, they're all addressed!

MINE!!!!! If you purchase a new bike for your child, place their picture inside the handle bar before placing the grips on. if the bike is stolen and later recovered, remove the grip and there is your proof who owns the bike.

Flexible vacuum To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

Reducing Static Cling Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and -- voila -- static is gone.

Measuring Cups Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill it with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry the cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.

Foggy Windshield? Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!

Reopening envelope If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Voila! It unseals easily.

Conditioner Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's a lot cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair...

Good-bye Fruit Flies To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass fill it

1/2" with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dishwashing liquid, mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!

Get Rid of Ants Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it "home," & can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, esp. if it rains, but it works & you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

Take baby powder to the beach Keep a small bottle of baby powder in your beach bag. When your ready to leave the beach sprinkle yourself and kids with the powder and the sand will slide right off your skin.

Dianne, we need to hook you up with Maria in CA. She's a maven at this stuff too!

Here's another version to your bicycle hint:

My husband took his driver's license and Xerox'd it with the receipt for his new bike and a photo of the bike. We kept one copy with insurance papers (it's an expensive bike) and put one in the handgrip. (You can also put one rolled up in the seat shaft.)

I'm definitely going to try the dryer cloth & mosquito trick: they love me.

wow--Dianne, you are the new 'Heloise'!! smileys/wink.gif I like your

tip about the photo in the handle bars! And since they say there will be alot of mosquitoes in the spring due to the mild winter, I will remember the tip about the dryer sheet! Thanks smileys/wink.gif

Cape town, Johannesburg, Botswana,Chobe game reserve, Vic Falls. Going to where Mandela was ..

imprisoned & hope to go to Oprah's school

These are great, thanks! Can you tell me how to avoid major static electric shocks at Sam's Club?

I have never had this happen anywhere else, but I get these huge static electricity shocks at Sam's Club. I am now conditioned to periodically touch the metal, so I don't get zapped when I least expect it. I love the leftover pizza hint, actually, there are a bunch on here that I like. Thanks Dianne and welcome.

what a great trip!! one hint on buying bug dope, wait and buy it where you are going---

the guide books often say that. And here in Southeast Alaska (award winning bugs!) a lot of people show up with other brands, but only Cutters seems to work and they (the sketters) like the other stuff. That Avon bath stuff does work for some people. I think it was in Thailand where I got some at the local pharmacy. Several people were using stuff they brought and getting bites. I was fine.
The dryer sheets won't take up any space and worth a try.
My 22cents.
Nan

The dryer sheets are supposed to keep moose away from the trees too. tell that to my moose.

Are you talking about the cart rolling over some areas of the floor and shocking the bjiminies

out of you? I find this alarming. Good thing I don't wear a pacemaker. I've found it in only one store here but waaaay too strong.

LOVE these! This is fun -- I can add a few!

Ants - if ants are coming in the house, sprinkle a line of garlic salt... they won't cross it.

Dryer sheets - I have an awful time with static build up, especially traveling, so I keep a sheet in my suitcase to run over my hair or clothes. It removes the 'flyaways' and static.

Reheating bread - I was always taught to put it in a paper bag, wet your hand and flick the water into the bag, close, then heat in oven for 5 min.

Chopping eggs for sandwiches - I put the eggs in a bowl and use my pastry blender to cut them up easily.

Cleaning your hairbrush and comb - put in a sink with hot water and squirt of shampoo. Let soak, swish, then rinse well. They get squeaky clean.

Flowers - when you first bring in cut flowers, submerge them in a sink full of cool water to which you've added a squirt of dish liquid. The bugs can't break the surface of bubbles. Leave for 30 min. You can also revive limp flowers by soaking them in a sink full of warm water for half an hour or so.

There is great bug spray avaiable in SA....as Suggested wait till you get there, it will be cheaper

the Rand is about 7 to a Dollar. You'll be rich in SA.
If you feel the need to take bug stuff take roll on mosquito milk or "Off" that is a cream with Lanolin. And DONT scratch if you do get bitten as that can get infected. A secret way of dealing with a big bite (this sounds gross but works) make a "hot-cross-bun over the middle of the bite with your finger nail...deep drepression this way and that) and then put a big blob of spit on it and let it dry...Well, I know but when out in the bush and there is nothing else to use...and it really works just RESIST the urge to scratch.

LOL. I did the dryer sheets in the tree thing one year, and my DH called my Mom and told her I had

lost my mind! But they were stripping my new mt. ash tree, which I so love for the berries in the fall, as do the moose. It's finally getting almost taller than they are for reaching, unless we have lots of snow, like this winter.

No, but now I have a new worry! It is the metal edges around the meat cases in particular...

when you reach in to take out a package of meat, fish or chicken, and you inadvertantly touch the edge, you get a gigantic static shot. At least I do. I am very careful now. Shocks coming from the floor would really freak me out!
