Here's a handy site where you can give away things you don't want anymore - Yerdle

Some of Bay Area food blogger friends are giving away kitchen equipment and tools from all their swag bags. I don't have that problem, but it might be a fun place to handle things one wants to purge.

I have an old fashioned ice cream maker and a Braun espresso machine that I might put up on this. Better than stashing them in the closet forever!

How is this different than Freecycle or is it only on the FB platform?

I can't find much info without having to sign-up first. Is it giving away stuff or is it a bartering site?

There is also the Y! Compact group, which I haven't wholly stuck to, but like the idea and am trying to be more zero waste. I've seen things posted there too. FYI, here is an article about them

It's a give-away site but you can also snag something for yourself.

There's no obligation if you sign up. I never could get Freecycle to work for me, they would never add me to their list for some reason.

This is not just for the bay area, by the way.

Interesting

It seems to be social network based ("share/loan/give with friends/people you know"), but not sure if it's anything beyond FB as the only thing I could gleen was from other sites and some talked about delivery fees/dropping items off at their SF office. Unfortunately their website wants your personal info before you can do anything or possibly sign-in via FB (don't know b/c I couldn't get it to load). Kinda cool idea, but FB would be the deal breaker for me.

You might try again to see if you could join FC, for some reason think it took me a few tries. It is a bit funky, maybe b/c it's a non-profit, but have used it with success. Of course there is always CL free stuff too.

I'm both sad and sorta glad I can't see what kitchen stuff your friends posted, because I'd likely want it!
