icons on desktop, can't do a system restore, no system tools, nothing. I can't even to a "ctrl-alt-delete" to see what's going on! This happened right after I installed "Personal Security" software after I clicked on a link while doing a search.

Now I know that it's malware itself!! I can't remove it because I can't open the add/remove programs. I restarted several times. Help!

Dawn, go to GeekPolice.com...they helped me with a problem last week...

in the meantime try to download Malwarebytes at www.malwarebytes.org and run it.

Do NOT open/download any "security" software named "PERSONAL SECURITY" even though it

looks very official and says its coming from your own security center on your computer.

It lies... it's a virus/trojan. Won't let you run anything Windows-related. Bad one.

There is a lot of this going on. You need to be VERY VERY careful. Do not even use the red x in the

box to get rid of it. That could be enough to give you the virus. Get off the net by using your own computer keys or red X on your internet.
The virus tricks you by saying you've got a prob and to click and solve or find out what it is.

Try Malwarebytes which is free software or Spybot. If the prob is really bad you made need to bring it to a professional.

I had this happen before too. I would suggest that you back up as much

as you can. I had to reinstall XP and wipe out my entire computer. It was a pain, but it did work. I ran some malaware programs but they couldn't "fix" the problem. I even manually deleted the program from my C drive and it was still on it.
What I don't understand is why people would want to do this. It just seems so mean-spirited Good luck and let us know what happens.

Yes, arrrgghhh... I'm not the smartest person on the planet, but I'm not the dumbest one either, and

everything I found to uninstall the program either didn't work/didn't open, or I didn't know what the heck they were telling me to do.

I finally went to My Computer>C-drive>Program Files>Common Files>PSecurityUninstall>Uninstall and clicked on that; poof!, it's gone!! God bless Victoria who suggested that at YahooAnswers.

Then I ran the HitmanPro anti-malware scan again, and it didn't find that virus (ran it last night, and it found it, but it couldn't take it away). Now I'll kiss my computer and put it away. I've been working on trying to fix it for 2 hours this morning!

Thanks

Thank Suz. Tried Malwarebytes last night and it didn't budge it. Gone now though (see above post).

Sometimes the simple fix is the best (manually deleting it using Uninstall - if you can find it!).

Glad you were able to uninstall!! Don't feel bad many people have fallen for this...

the virus is set up that way!!!
