Hey everyone, what's the temperature where you are? It's 95 here in Greensboro, NC, and will hit 97

Too many northern transplants trying to grow green lawns,

shrubs, and gardens in the desert with all of the water required to keep it alive.

That water translates to humidity.

Will Phoenix ever ban non-desert horticulture as the humidity levels keep rising?

 
I've wondered about swimming pools, don't they add to the humidity? Not to mention all

the water used to keep them filled during the dry season. I know our pool level goes down quite a bit when the humidity is low, but that's only a couple of months a year, lol.

 
There's a 2-month stretch from the middle of July to the middle of September that is humid, but...

...not anywhere near as stifling as the humidity all summer in Missouri.

We get thunderstorms in the evenings that cool everything down (relatively speaking --I sound like the weathergirl!) and the humidity hits 30 to 40% the next day. Not like 80% or more that my Dad gets in SW Missouri.

Unusual for us in the No. Sacramento Valley in CA but for the last two mornings

it has been 58° and 59° going up to low 90's by mid-afternoon. We are loving it. Being inland, we get very hot summers. We had a heat wave two weeks ago, up to 112° for a few days. Very warm nights, then down to low triple digits, 101 - 104. We usually don't cool down until Halloween week. But, we have a long growing season and I usually have fresh tomatoes from June until Oct. Not bad!

 
Mid- to upper-eighties this week. No rain in sight... the garden looks pretty bad, but

it's keeping the mosquitos down!

Tomatoes are about a month behind... anyone else in the northeast experiencing delayed vegetable garden crops?

 
between 65 and 70, down to 40's at night...sunny!

it's winter and folks are going around wearing heavy coats and boots!!

 
30 miles east of San Francisco, it's mid 80s high and mid 60s low. Unseasonably cool right now but

we can live with that. Humidity is low 70s too so it's very pleasant.

 
Thanks Ang, although we missed the storm. Looked like a bad one, but we

are in much need of rain, at 250 miles northwest of NYC/NJ. Thanks for your concern - I do hope the people in that area are ok too.
