so thought maybe I should get her something for the kitchen. She's in SoCal so it would need to be something I can mail.

Not sure what she has but she's been a Foodie longer than me (every since I can remember and that's since I was 2) and worked as a food stylest for TV a few yrs back (but it was one of the Star Treks so not sure that counts as food, lol.)

What are your favorite foodie gifts or what's on your want list this year?

Great idea and Judy-Mass makes delightful pottery. (you could fill the gift with something homemade)

Judy's pottery is a really terrific idea and she probably wouldn't have anything like that!

No matter how long you've been a foodie, things wear out and new things crop up. I love my mini whisks, flexible cutting boards, pastry brushes, canister scoops, etc.

But my favorite item is a casserole dish my sis gave me in 1988. It's different and everything just seems to look and taste better in it smileys/smile.gif

If it really must be non-food, I loved this article in the LA Times, on affordable foodie

stocking stuffers. The online version doesn't have all the pictures, but they're all things any cook could use, and use more of if they have one, easy to mail, and you can cite Russ Parsons of the LA Times as you tell her you wanted to follow local advice. (He's their best food writer--no doubt she knows of him.)

Threse are $5.99 at my local hardware store (not the cheapest store).

I put these in our Yankee Swap last year and they started a very brisk exchange-exchange-excange !
Also Cost Plus carries them for the same price, $5.99.

That's good to know they really work Janet. I remember Scott in Scottsdale posting about how

he used underwater goggles with good results for chopping onions.

I think I'll wait and buy a multi-purpose goggle. I spied these at an indoor boat show in Tampa and they're so cool. I also would like to see what I'm stepping on in the Gulf of Mexico - Lol
