honey review -- anyone have a favorite?

I received a lovely jar of Carolina honey today (thanks Meryl *g*), so I just had to do a taste test of the 3 honeys I had on hand... the Carolina wildflower honey, Butchart Garden's wildflower honey from Victoria, Canada, and the generic store brand clover honey... what a difference!! The clover had a tangy metallic taste. Butchart Garden's had a strong sweet, fruity taste. The Carolina had a deep, almost smoky taste -- milder than the other two and certainly my favorite!

Anyone else have a favorite I should try?

The Catclaw (my #1 fav) and the mesquite from Mountain Top Honey in Flagstaff is excellent.

Catclaw is especially good, and there's not an annual harvest, so supply can be spotty.

It's great, when you can get it.

Geeze, maybe a long time ago, we got Orange Blossom Honey from a beekeeper Davis, CA. . .

We went to a farmer's market and this guy was selling his honey at a VERY reasonable price. The orange blossom was so perfumed you would not believe it. We purchased that orange blossom hone and some other honey in 1 Gallon old coke syrup jars. We had that stuff for years and it was GOOD.

The orange blossom honey was killer when we made orange-aid and use the honey to sweeten. It was like drinking the air in a grove of blooming orange trees.

How would you describe the flavor of the borage?

Raspberry or blueberry honey from Maine....

but I'm willing to try most any honey. I loved a jar of lime honey I bought in Lucca. Acacia honey from Sicily was very light and delicate. Added to tea, it got lost. It was fab drizzled over fresh pears.

I have a jar of sourwood honey I bought in TN that I haven't opened yet.

My current stock is a huge Mason jar full from the Adirondacks and a jar from a local cranberry bog. All are very tasty.

Yup, that's what I figured... the other 2 ladies live in Tucson and I'm flying in there then...

we are driving to Sedona. From there we will do an overnight tour to the Grand Canyon.
On returning home I will probably go have my head examined...
