this year. Every year John and I just pick one thing to buy that both of us will enjoy and this year we are doing a couples hands on cooking class at the Publix Apron's Cooking school. John has wanted to do it for a really long time and on Jan. 17th they are having a French Bistro dinner that is for couples at a really reasonable price. It's about 3 hour classes and the menu is:

MENU - Ham and Gruyere Crepes with Shallot Mustard Sauce; Duck Breast and Orange Salad; Trout Amandine with Green Beans and Potatoes; Pears in Puff Pastry.

Nothing I haven't done but I look forward to learning a little something that I don't maybe know from a Chef instructor. Fun huh?

Small, quiet, But Very Good

Christmas night dinner was prime rib, roasted grapes, small yellow potatoes roasted in juice and fat from the roast, and green peas with thyme. Dessert is a Bakwell tart. Simple, easy, and plenty for two little old people. I have to get out and walk in the morning and every morning till the New Year feasts.

Orchid, the cooking class sounds like a perfect gift. David got an Apple iPad Air and I’m getting a landscape designer and plantings for the top of the driveway.

Let me know how he likes the iPad air. DH is looking for something new, but I think he might

Be happier with something bigger

A bit of drama---guests came 1 1/2 hours early. I hadn't even showered yet. Miscommunication

To say the least. DH heard "4", and thought that meant dinner at 4, so come 3ish. I had told friends come at 4, dinner 5ish. They followed his plan but no one told me till they were on their way. What a scramble I made to pull myself together. So much for my lists and timeline. A good time was had by all anyway. Santa brought me a new Loomis fishing pole--lightweight and ready for slaying Reds. And a beater/scraper for the mixer

Under the circumstances, it was big of you not to use the beater/scraper on your husband.

these words came out of his mouth "what's the big deal, they're just our friends". hopeless. but

I'll keep him. I ran upstairs and took a record breaking shower and threw on some decent clothes and commenced with the merriment. wine may have been in my glass. all the others are non-drinkers. they did check their messages and saw that I WAS RIGHT, the time was come at 4 and dinner around 5.

And God bless them, every one.....meaning all the DHs. I got a good chuckle and kudos

to you, AngAk1, for being dressed on time!

Ang, I expect

I will let you know, but I expect him to love it. He is pretty techy and we both have MacBook Pros, iPhones, iPods.
