Thanks for your concern! I am very concerned about Marilyn because her area was badly affected. She didn't reply to an email, not surprisingly, but I have texted her and am hoping for a reply. We were lucky because the storm passed far to the west of us.
This is a video of flooding in Waynesville, NC which is where I believe Marilyn lives. I hope that she's okay!

Marilyn says she's safe. She hasn't had electricity/water/phone since Friday, currently has 1 bar and is pretty much restricted to emergency calls. The flooding looks awful, but she seems to be OK.I hope everyone is ok. North Carolina and parts of FL look really bad.
Hi all...thanks for the prayers. Electricity came back at 10 PM last night (God Bless EMC workers) so just 3 days with no water/no electricity/no phone service and two downed trees that DIDN'T hit my house or car. Wind gusts at 61 mph before my phone service died.
I was one of the lucky ones.
Because this is nothing compared to many in my small corner of NC. Maggie Valley (6 miles from my place) lost hundreds of small cabins collapsing along the flooding creeks. I-40 washed aways the east bound lane jut 15 miles from me. Asheville is devastated...it's very hilly and over 2,000 feet in elevation, but so is the French Broad River. Death count is unknown until phone service comes back up and people can check in.
Just like in Florida, folks helped out. Neighbors came over to my spring head french drain to collect clean water to flush toilets and wash dishes. I chain-sawed a tree across the road blocking a neighbor's house--they have kids. Another neighbor showed up at my place with a generator to run my refrigerator for an hour.
This is what you do. Pray for others and clean up the mess.

Glad to hear you're ok, and in true Marilyn fashion, jumping in to help. I'm guessing you've raided your pantry and are cooking up a storm for the neighborhood. Hope and prayers for Maggie Valley and Asheville.

Thanks, Maria for that kind offer. Our stores reopened after emergency generators were brought in. Waynesville downtown still doesn’t have wifi service and cell service is iffy.
Turns out I’m very lucky. I thought if I had electric/phone/wifi/clean well water up here in the boonies, everyone would.
Really wrong about that assumption.
If your well is at ground level flooding, it needs to be boiled. So stores are heavily stocking pallets of bottled water. I’m at 3,000 so my well water is fine.
Gas stations are starting to reopen now that tankers can get through to resupply their storage tanks. Long lines before due to folks needing gas for generators.
Local lake I walk is at a large UME conference community/center. It is being used as a staging grounds for the emergency crews working our county: military, EPA, fire & rescue, tree removal cranes, etc. Lake Junaluska has hotels, catering, parking for hundreds of people. I noticed most trucks had mini satellites mounted on top.
Haven’t personally seen the devastation in Asheville (20 miles east of me). I’m staying off the roads since there were many mud slides around.
This is part of the lake where creeks flushed trash into it.
This morning I dropped off a pan of Cafe Beaujolais coffee cake at one of the church donation collection site. Sometimes you just need a slice of warm cake to get through the day.

Oh my! I’d stay off the roads too. So kind of you to bring them coffee cake. I sure bet they appreciate it! The pictures coming out of those areas look like much work will need to be done. So lucky with your well. Everyone is in my thoughts. If you need anything, just holler.
