I used unsweetened dried cherries which offset the sweetness of the preserves. Used dark chocolate for the same reason. Added bonus of looking beautiful!

Still don't know if I can freeze them but I"m going to give it a shot!

In response to my request for a copy-cat Starbucks Michigan cherry bar. These have more cherries and were delicious. Instead of cherry preserves, I got a jar of morello cherries, cooked down the juice until syrupy, added some sugar and a little cornstarch to thicken. Wonderful!
