How cool is that? You gotta take the credit on this one - you must be a great writer!

Of course, this IS a great community smileys/smile.gif

Congrats!

Yes, too cool. Good for you! Isn't it a sad state of affairs to think that everyone,

everywhere should be acting like that to each other ALL the time? Why is it we can be so caring to each other, though most of us have never met, but don't bother to say HI to our neighbor? I think some of our closeness here is because we are willing to share our lives (along with the recipes) with each other. In the real world, we don't often share with others.

Would sure love to see your report if you ever get it posted. CONGRATS!

As communities go, this is a pretty perfect one including the occassional family feud...

I try explaining our 'family' as I call it to others and they don't understand how we can all feel so connected just through meeting on this site.

Congrats on the paper & the grade!

I tried to contact my teacher for a copy of the report but she was a guest teacher for the summer

class and won't be teaching again until next summer ~ and she hasn't returned my email ~ it was 28 pages long (double spaced MLA format)

Seriously, it wasn't so hard to write ~ I have to add that in order to "shine" FK, there had to be a compare and contrast and I did with another food forum (won't mention it but I'm sure most should know the one I used) and in all honesty the compare and contrast was a small part but it did show some major differences.

I DID NOT MENTION ANY POSTER BY NAME AT ANY GIVEN TIME AT ALL ~ What I did do is explained the help and out reach of assistance by FK posters and the friendships that formed and I even went so far as to state that most are life long sincere friendships. That, though FK is a food forum, that is the basic, a mere small part, what is integral to it's success is the way total strangers reach out, care, offer advice, help at the drop of the hat (used different terminology for that)and go very much out of their way to help, people who have no qualms or fear of ridicule of a question or situation and too someone will always say they did it too, and the silliness and fun, pun, of some new post. Each was it's own section and I had to connect it to all communities I know (schools, family, church, neighborhood etc) and why I like this one best (excluding family).

It's what I remember and to give you all an idea ~ 28 pages would be too much to print ~ but I would if I could.

I also did a section that though it was a food forum ~ FK was a surrogate too (I used different words): a home away from home, advice (sort of a counselor)and this is exact: an afternoon tea party that never ends with the good feelings and camaraderie of strangers who are no longer strangers to each other

My computer crashed twice during this period and you'd think I'd have been smart to save it but I didn't ~ 2 days later we bought this new Dell computer with a cannon printer that is also a scanner ~ love this computer~ and now I have UBS drives to save ~ my old one could only do floppy discs.

Everyone was an inspiration ~ and in my research I went as far to the beginning of the forum and looked and used the T & T sections.
