How do you get your meatballs to hold their round shape while they brown?

I bake them.

By baking them there is no need to turn them. Only the bottoms get a little flattened. To keep a really round shape you'd need to deep fry them.

 
I use a little more breadcrumbs than most people do, and with a beaten egg in there too...

they pretty much hold their round shape. They are a little fine/dense/heavy, but we like them that way.

One other thing I do is keep the heat medium-low and then cover them with the lid of the pan, so I guess I "kind of" bake them, even though they are in a frying pan :eek:)

I turn them once, about halfway through.

 
How do you roll your balls? My MIL used to put a spoon of meat in a cup with a little flour or.....

breadcrumbs and swirl it around. Worked like a charm and no messy hands...I'm sort of a hands on person, messy hands and ice water are usually the way I go.
