How do you pronounce "Lychee" as in the Asian fruit. This woman at the

grocery store kept saying lie-chee instead of lee-chee, as I've always heard it pronounced. I'm drinking lychee iced tea right now, and it's very good, just kept thinking it sounded funnier every time she said "lie-chee"...

Every one here calls it lai-chee! lee-chee sounds funny, and lee-chee nut is even worse!

It's one of those fruits that a neighbor/friend/auntie/somebody gave you in big grocery bags when their trees were overloaded with fruit. We ate TONS of them as kids.

And now, everyone has cut down their trees, and you have to buy them. At $5/pound! We sure don't eat them as often as we used to!
