How do you store fresh ginger root?

Exactly.... it seems to keep forever in the freezer and I grate it frozen.

I've done all the above, but found it keeps a long time in a paper bag in fruit drawer of fridge.

Yes, that's what I do too. Then you don't have other flavors interacting with it for recipes.
