food snob (note the Cheeto bags in my trash) but this stuff always makes me think of shaving cream. There's something about it that screams fake to me.
What's snobbish about not wanting to eat a whipped blend of water, high-fructose corn syrup and
various oils and gums? Sounds like a healthy choice to me. Even if I were lactose intolerant or keeping kosher, I think I'd rather go without. What we put in our bodies is important.
Have, but rarely do use it. Stabilized whipped cream works great in most
recipes calling for Cool Whip.
Don't use margarine, either. I agree that what we put in our bodies is important. The older I get the more particular I am.
It's been about 5 years since I purchased a bag of Cheetos. My youngest daughter loved them so and once in awhile I'd buy her a bag and steal a handful. Tasty if you can keep from reading the label. haha
{sheepishly raising a hand}. 200 calories for the real stuff versus 0 calories
for a few tablespoons of creaminess? I love it mixed with solid-pack pumpkin puree, Splenda and spices. Maybe that's why I can't discern all those chemicals as easily.
My consumption dropped significantly when I realized it changed from a white, fluffy, opaque state to a clear, oily, translucent state. And I don't serve it to guests.
But, honestly, what can I say? My tongue is a tramp living on the wrong side of The Tastebuds.
