Mix together in a large bowl 2 cups flour, sugar, salt, anise seed, cinnamon, cardamon, cloves and undissolved yeast; add softened margarine.

Gradually add hot tap water to dry ingredients; beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally.

Add 1 cup flour, or enough flour to make a thick batter; beat at high speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally.

Stir in enough additional flour to make a soft dough.

Turn dough out onto lightly floured board; knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes.

Place dough in a greased bowl, turning to grease the top; cover and let rise in a warm place, free from draft, until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.

Punch dough down; turn out onto lightly floured board.

Knead in mixed dried fruit, almonds, walnuts and candied orange peel.

Divide dough in half; form into round balls.

Place balls on greased baking sheets; cover and let rise in a warm place, free from draft, until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.

Bake in preheated 375 Degree F. oven 35 to 40 minuts, or until done.

Remove bread from baking sheets; place on wire racks to cool.

Brush bread with honey while warm.
