I am going to the bone breaker tomorrow.

and I am so pissed. I received his doctors claim a couple days ago, and his bill today. I was charged $900+ for a visit to his office. He didn't take xrays, he looked at the ones from the ER. He walked into the room, didn't tell me what my diagnosis was (I was in a percocet induced state, or I would have been more assertive) looked at my unbroken foot, and told me that I would need to wear the boot for a month. For that, I was charged $900+ and it was claimed as an outpatient surgery. There is a lot more history with him, and it definitely showed up in my treatment. What would you do?

Hi Dawn,

I'm so sorry you are going through this.

I would sweetly call their office tomorrow and inform them of their billing error. smileys/wink.gif

Depending on their response, I might consider reporting them to the state medical board, and possibly the insurance company and state insurance board if there is a claim involved for payment.

AARRGGHHH!!!

Did this Dr. put the boot on your foot? Was the X-ray specifically charged by his office? I agree with Lisa -- I'd start with his billing people, in person if you can do it. Then I would call the insurance company covering the debacle and notify them of what treatment you actually got. You might have to do this in writing. Your state Attorney General's office should get a cc when the whole thing settles itself out. As if you aren't in enough pain -- to have to go through this with your health care provider is ridiculous!!

I feel your pain - I'm sorting out the charges on DH ICU stay in April

The walk in clinic he went to before we wound in the ER at 11pm is the worst! The doctors aren't too bad. But, while they are nice and working with me, the hospital sent us two bills each for almost $30k - and one showing the insurance isn't paying anything when we've met our deductable to say the least.

All I can suggest is patience and a speakerphone so you don't get a cramp in your shoulder smileys/smile.gif

I would most definitly dispute. It really could be just an office error. If not, I'd go way above

his head to the board that governs his prof. activity, but speak directly to him before doing so. He may want to avoid the aggravation, as would you.

He charged that for just HIS office visit? If it's not an error, I'd definately

report/complain to the local AMA office. In New York, it's the Onondaga Medical Society, so I'm thinking your county would be able to direct you to yours. It sets standards and serves as an advocate for patients.

The national office is at 515 N. State Street,
Chicago, IL 60654, (800) 621-8335

Good luck!!
