I am in the process of organizing my pasta and grains pantry. Need some help

I am down to a few one pound boxes of short pastas such as Penne, spiral pasta, etc. I love the hermetically sealed jars and want to purchase a few for this type of pasta. All of the jars only give liquid weight, such as the one in the link I included. I called Crate and Barrel and they said, they think this one would hold my 16 ounce boxed small pastas. Has anyone had any experience with this and can you give me any idea of what ounce jar I should be looking for?http://www.crateandbarrel.com/weck-26-oz.-canning-jar/s261346

I'm gonna say no, but am putting a *be wary* on my answer since I've been up since 2:00 AM.

Here's what I looked up on Amazon (the dimension link didn't open on your Crate & Barrel link).
3/4 LITER WECK JAR (#743)
Volume: 3/4 liter, 850 ml, 28.7 fl oz, 3 1/4 cups*
Size: 5 3/4'' (147 mm) high, 3 7/8'' (100 mm) opening

This is as close as I can get to your 26 oz version, so ~3.25 cups.
Look at the pasta link I've attached and 8 oz of dried pasta ranges from ~3.5 to 4 Cups on an average.

So a 16 oz box (1 pound) wouldn't fit.

Again...2:00 AM, so bear with me while I keep checking around.

I am a little dubious that it would. Have you thought about the similar

type closure jars at World Market? And they come larger than that --like maybe 64oz. Or if you are near an Ikea?

Thanks! I finally found out that a 2.5 quart jar will hold 1 pound of short pasta

So...I ordered three of them which turned out to be the tall pasta type jars. This is OK, because I have a very tall area in my pantry for my long pasta jars, and these have a smaller footprint.

The jars are glass by OXO, have an airtight flip top lid which people seemed to love. Just want to get this project done, so I can see the finished product.

They are round

For some reason I am not able to copy and paste the URL. Google "The Container Store, OXO 2.5 qt glass storage jar". They will also hold the long pastas such as spaghetti.

World Market is great too, I was amazed when I started searching for jars how many resources

are available. My first buy was at our local Ace Hardware. Nine Mason jars with white plastic screw on lids (purchased separately) were great for my rice, farro, soup barley and other grains. I filled all nine of them, and they look beautiful. I also had hermetically sealed jars of all sizes that had assorted non food items. I cleaned them up and used for smaller batches of grains.
The hardest part of the whole process was trying to figure out which size jars, I needed. I did not want to put a 1 lb. box of a pasta into a jar only to have 1 cup left over. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. It was interesting too, to go online and see what other ladies have done with their pasta and grains. My inventory was a mess and I would say to heck with it. Hence, I was not using things up the way they should be used. Since then, I am eating more healthy grains and using them in cold salads too.

Just a note on the Weck jars

I use the Weck jars for canning- have for years. You would definitely NOT be happy trying to store pasta in them. They are great canning jars but not meant for dry storage. When you take the clamps off you find the glass top is loose and the ring falls free.

Thanks for the info. I don't have any of the Weck, Not sure what brand I bought for my tall pasta

will take a look.

Not a fan of Weck jars myself. I find them too much work

to get all the snaps off and then back on. And they're pricey. Gave all mine away. I prefer other jar types that allow me to get in and get out and get on with it, lol.
