I am working hard at avoiding flu and flu shots in our home. Does anyone make elderberry syrup? Or

Barb, I have not had a flu shot, ever. I have never had the flu either. What I do

we wash our hands as soon as we get home from being out in public. I always use those sanitary wipes they provide at grocery stores and I wipe the cart handle very well. I use Purell on my hands, and keep a small container in the car. We avoid sick people and ask that no one comes to our home sick.

I think eating lots of veggies, and in season fruits helps lots. I use Elderberry vinegar now and then but it was not made by me.

After getting the flu three winters in a row, I started getting my flu shot regularly 20 years ago

Since then I have gotten the SUMMER flu exactly twice.

They don't always get the predictions as right as they hope, but it is always an advantage to have the flu shot. A vaccination is not the same as a medication.

Flu shots of course are as important for the larger population as it is for the individual. Not

getting the flu may be as much a function of ALL the people around you getting the shot--which basically protects you--rather than eating a healthy diet, which should be a given anyway. ;o)
Immunizations are very important to the general population, of which we are all a part. The measles outbreak should have taught us that.

Grandma's E's remedy: 1:1:1 ratio of honey, lemon juice, whiskey. Cured everything.

And you could polish the furniture with it.

Ooops! Was not intended this thread to take on a flu shot theme. I was interested in learning if

anyone made elderberry syrup.

I can see how it took that tone, when I re-read my post / question.

SO, to re word it.... Does anyone do / make / eat anything that makes helps prevent a cold? My one friend is a believer in some sort of green drink every time she feels a cold coming on. I tried a sip, and it did not work for me. I heard about elderberry syrup and was interested in it.

Thoughts? or do you do / make anything. I grew up with drinking OJ on the onset of cold symptoms.

TIA,
Barb

My sister had a "cold fighting soup" that she swore by--it had a LOT of garlic!!

But are you really going to avoid the flu shot?

Oh, and I have sleepless nights before a dentist appt. My dentist now refers to any

cavity as a small indentation. (He knows me so well!!)
