I attended an English Tea this past Sunday, which was wonderful.

We had black tea (Tetley's) and Earl Grey. (Also green tea, but I don't think anyone had that.)

The food was gorgeous. All homemade and very fresh.

Sandwiches: salmon with butter, cucumber with cream cheese, and egg salad (my favorite).

Breads: toasted tea cakes with butter (LOVED these), raisin bread with butter, scones with Devonshire cream and strawberry jam

Cakes: ginger cake and chocolate cupcakes (I was too full to have a cupcake)

Pastries: raspberry tarts and lemon tarts

Shortbread cookies (these were fabulous)

And after that I had to go to a Mexican potluck; I did not really eat anything at all there because I was too full from tea. I had a very good glass of white wine, however.

I adore a good afternoon tea.

When we travel to NYC there are so many options for tea. When we have early curtain times for Wagner operas, we will do afternoon tea instead of trying to rush through a too early dinner.

Me too! Oddly enough, the last tea I went to was in Albuquerque, NM! *St. James Tearoom*

While the outside is pure New Mexico adobe hacienda, the inside is a mishmash of English tiny rooms for separate dining...lots of old-style wallpaper, tchotchke, drapery, etc.

One of my favorite savories was a tiny parmesan bowl with greens and a single shrimp, napped with a touch of cream sauce. Two bites of bliss.

We celebrated my 23rd birthday at the RTR, back in the day...

when I was finishing my masters at Juilliard.

La Grande Dame from my hometown came for my recital/birthday/graduation and we did it up: Zakushka, flavored vodkas, Beluga caviar service, champagne, etc. etc. Ah to be young in NYC again with a patroness who pays for nights out at the RTR!

Love Tea! Heading to teaberry's w/ friends on Friday. I purchased fun china cups for my kids

to enjoy our morning tea. (Consignment shop). wasn't worried if they get chipped. So far, dd and I have tea 3 xs a week in am, ds, is still drowsy, but he knows he has a fun china cup waiting for him!! : )
