I bought this at Sam's yesterday too, but they were not demo-ing it...

but we used to get these from my husband's uncle, who lived in Montana. Hub's family didn't seem to like them, but I loved it, so I happily took all that no on else wanted. I accidently picked up two yesterday, one was in the flounder bin, and I didn't notice it until I was putting them in the freezer. Hopefully, the frozen ones will be as good as I remember, because I have a lot of it. I may have my stepdaughter smoke some for me. I love smoked trout even more than smoked salmon. Let me know how you prepare it Misplaced, because I usually just grill them with garlic butter, but since I have decided to "Core" it with my stepdaughter, butter will not be as free flowing as usual around here.

It's actually a trout - steelhead, salmon trout, or coastal rainbow trout

It is a sea trout rather than a fresh water trout and it migrates up the rivers, usually more than once unlike a salmon, to breed.

It's flesh is typically a little more tender like a trout than like a salmon but has much of the color and flavor of salmon.

I see this often in our Publix market. I've never bought it, in the store, it looks just like salmon

Will be interested in what you think of it?

Do you still catch them the same old method

As a kid I remember having to throw your line out into the stream with roe tied on and let it bounce along the bottom. I never caught anything, but sure lost a lot of equipment. OBTW, I useto live close to the border of Alaska. Sure would like to make another run up there for some fishing, but waiting for this gas situation to settle down.

in Alaska we have a steelhead, which to me is more like a salmon than a trout. We have

pretty much the same waters (temp and tide action, tidal glaciers, etc.) as Chili, if you start from the other end of the planet.
Here is a link to those. As far as I know, our's are pretty much a sport fishery?

please report back---
