I could kick myself multiple times.....

and honestly don't expect that anyone could read my mind or have a crystal ball available.

still, here it goes

About 2 months ago, maybe more - I saw a recipe for something that called for canned yellow tomatoes, a hard ingredient to find, but according to the recipe, totally worth it because they worked like a charm for that something.

I filed that in my memory. Found 2 cans of beautiful yellow tomatoes from Italy in our very own grocery store - now I have NO IDEA where I saw the recipe, what was it for, if it was in a Kindle cookbook (that's what I suspect), if it was from a website...

google searches come up with nothing whatsoever

has anybody by any chance has a clue??????

thanks, this is driving me insane

I tried that already (more)

the search includes any recipe with "canned", "yellow" and "tomatoes" so I found essentially zero recipes joining the three of them

it is soooooo frustrating! That is the same for any food blog search, by the way, I could not find a way to search for a string of the three words together in that order.

(sigh)

I called the Visconti Deli to ask if they shipped the tomatoes, they gave me this link

I ordered the tomatoes as I know I have NEVER seen them around here, plus they also had a jar of beautiful, grilled artichokes with stems, which I have never seen either...PLUS some other really interesting products. Fun recipes too, Shipping is pricey because of the glass bottles. Lady was so nice, said she would send me out a bunch of recipes using their products.

Sally, I know exactly how you feel because I have done that many times

now, I make sure to print out the recipe. However, I am so happy you posted your desires here because I went crazy with a few of the products and ended up buying some things I have never seen around here. Cannot wait to get the box, and I already have some recipes printed out to try. I am so looking forward to the Grilled Artichokes with Stems. I am a real sucker for ethnic food products that are not available here in our neck of the woods.

Do you have any other clues to the recipe you want? Pasta, soup, one dish type?????

I "think" it was some type of casserole... maybe Mexican?

I swear, this is KILLING ME.

Killing me...

I walk around the lab with this daze in my face, and the students think I'm concentrated on my experiments, which are indeed giving me a hard time lately - but no, I've got CANNED YELLOW TOMATOES in my mind

(sigh)

for some reason I also think it is from America's Test Kitchen...

... but don't find anything in a search in their site

Here's a couple of ideas in case you've read one of these books...

Butternut Squash and Leek Lasagna from the Third Thursday Community Potluck Cookbook

Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker - Couldn't find a specific recipe, but supposedly, it is an ingredient for at least one in this book;

Let us know when you find it - I've done this multiple times myself. It is frustrating!

thank you... I don't have those books, but....

...I wonder if it could be a crockpot recipe?

I got a few slow cooker books recently.

will check that tonight

I swear, this is so silly! Why, oh why didn't I make a note somewhere to myself?

Wow, they do have amazing products! The yellow tomatoes are the ones...

... I have

now you said they have great recipes, but I could not find any link to recipes in the site... am I missing something?

thanks so much!

I hate when that happens! I can't imagine it would be a crockpot recipe. Seems to $

an ingredient to cook away for that extended period. red toms would work just as well. I saw a found a few appetizer recipes and soup seems to be a big one. I have never seen yellow toms in a can.

I am sure what ever you make, will turn out great!

Have fun!

Yes, I have never seen or even heard of them. However, in reading the comments from bloggers

and reviews on recipes using them, there appears to be a noticeable difference in taste, and acidity level. I did order a few cans so I can play with them. I love yellow tomatoes, and when they come in at the Farmer's Market, they are the first I grab. For me, they are sweeter and do seem to have less of the acidic taste. I love the red ones too, in fact, I have never met a garden tomato I did not love.

The first link contains two recipes, one for yellow tomatoes and garlic,, and the second

one(scroll down) is for a yellow tomato bisque. The second link is where you can buy the products, and up at the top of the screen, you will see a "recipe" link
