I don't understand this at all: tucking a pie INSIDE a cake--or, worse, 3 pies!

Apparently this concept is the turducken (turkey, duck, chicken monstrosity) version of Frankenstein pastry.

Why? Why put a flaky pie INSIDE a damp cake batter...and then multiply the horrid concept by THREE?

I don't understand it, but should you need to buy one, this Pumpecapple (Pumpkin, Pecan, Apple) cake is available from Three Brothers Bakery and can be yours for a mere $349.

I'm with you, Marilyn! I never fully embraced the idea of the turducken despite the fact that I once attended a cooking class to see one being created. It did taste great, and typically I'll go the extra mile to crank out a recipe with good reviews, but WHY GO TO ALL THAT EXTRA TROUBLE? And for pastry? NO WAY!

I did seek out a picture of the Pumpecapple PieCake, and it's quite the tower. See==>

Keep in mind that piecake's $349.00 price tag includes shipping costs. lol! Thanks for a smile this morning, but I'm afraid The Three Brothers would have to pay me $349.00 to send one to my address.

This is a classic case of just because you CAN do it doesn't mean you should. LOL

Thanks for sharing!

$349 sounds reasonable - NOT!!

However, on the subject, I must confess one of my favorite dessert recipes is a pecan pie that is cooked inside a cheesecake. Basically it calls for a pecan pie (which I buy frozen - I don't think it matters if it isn't homemade or of the FINEST ingredients) that is slice into wedges that are placed on a cheesecake crust and the cheese cake batter poured over/between. I swear that it is absolutely divine!
