I feel so lost...no turkey thawing, no pies cooling

Hubby is working and SS will be sleeping (he works nights) so no Thanksgiving dinner at our house. I'll be joining friends and taking a couple of side dishes, but I just feel so lost with no big dinner planned...

I'm with you Michael. I always feel a little lost without post holiday turkey

sandwiches and I've become quite nostalgic for a particular stuffing. Without those two things, it just doesn't feel like the holidays....

I always keep a frozen turkey (or sometimes just a turkey breast) on hand for when we feel...

...especially thankful as a family.

I do it up! We have the whole spread at some odd time of year, and call it Thanksgiving, The Sequel.

Works for us!

Michael

We're having dinner with the kids...

at their house.
Daughter is cooking the bird, and son & DIL and & I are bringing side dishes and such.

I rather relish not having to clean the house and attend to all of the details.

I would miss having a family dinner, so we will be thinking of you.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, whenever it is!

I know what you mean. I always

like to take at least a couple of things, if I'm not actually having it at our house (as is the case this year), but this year my sister said "don't bring a thing".

I know she thinks she's trying to save me some work, but that's half the fun of the holidays... oh well, I'm with Michael and will do it all for just us maybe Saturday. Maybe I'll bring an extra apple pie anyway. There are always freezers if it doesn't get used, and I, too, like the smell of holiday baking, as someone else mentioned, above.

Enjoy, everyone.

the idea of no turkey sanwiches- tragic....cooked a 6 lb. breast and

made dressing, squash and cranberries for dinner last night. Going to friends for dinner-she buys the smallest turkey to be found..so no leftovers get sent home.

Awww...I want a vat of stuffing! Last night's cook made theirs with gibblets & heart and when

I asked about the uber chewy bits (thinking they were overcooked mushrooms) she enthusiastically told me about the organ meat. Ewwww.....
