I FINALLY found all of you... Help with Crockpot...

It took me awhile, but I found where all of the former Gail regulars are posting. It's such a relief to see Richard of Cincy, Kathy Z, and Michael in Phoenix to name a few posting again....

And now on to my question. I'm in the market for a new stainless crockpot. Apparently Cuisinart is not good, and I'm reading that AllClad has coils on the bottom instead of the sides, but the Breville seems to be well reviewed, with coils that wrap around the side and even heat.

Has anybody bought a crock lately, and had good luck with it? Mine are from the 70's, and still work great, but it's time to update since I want to leave one set out... I need direction, please.

So happy to see all of you!!!

Hiya Jan - can't help you with the steel crockpot, but I'm glad to see you here. You'll love it!

Jan! I wondered where you were. I went to Wal Mart and bought a GE 4.5 qt crockpot and

I LOVE it. I managed to avoid owning one until just a few years ago so this is my first one It is oval, has a removable ceramic insert- and it works really well. I use it a lot.

Glad you found us!! You will love this forum- Mimi got it right for all of us. Please post some of your wonderful recipes in the "favorites" area, will you?

Are you saying there is no pottery/china insert?

Anyway, I have two--an old one from the 70's and a new $500 one--you know, spend $40/week at the grocery for 16 weeks and you get one "free".
Anyway, I think it is probably a Rival. I can see no real benefit of paying very much for one--they all seem to do about the same thing.
I think size is important. This newer one is pretty big--maybe 6 qts.
Have you looked on Amazon--they have reviews often.
