The only place I've had Gyros was at the Mid-South Fair in Memphis!

Don't laugh! I lived in a small town in MS, and a bunch of us teens would go to the fair every year. The only person in any of our groups who ever tried Gyros was yours truly, and I got one every year until I grew up and moved away. Anyway, there was NEVER a line for Gyros.(Suppose I was the only one at the whole fair who ate them?) Now that I'm older, I have to give up some things in order to keep others... fairground Gyros out, funnel cakes still in! I'm afraid if I try authentic Gyros I won't like them. Like kids who can't stand real mac 'n cheese because it can't compare to the magic from the blue box.

Anyway, Dawn... thanks for the stroll down memory lane. But I still might try your recipe.

And this was so long ago, The Miami Sound Machine arrived to play on a yellow school bus!

(Later Gloria Estefan and the MSM, then eventually Gloria Estefan!)I saw her on the bus. She had long, curly black hair... she was sitting by the window on the passenger side of the bus, about half way back. I think she was wearing a white tank top. She looked so exotic. Back then of course, in our neck of the woods, we were all just Black and White... and nobody ate Gyros!
