I finally made the barbacoa last night, but then you probably all heard the groaning anyway.

I'm so glad I didn't let this one slip by.....and that I still have one more dose in the fridge. It is the Better than Chipotle's version and at $17 for 3 little oxtails, I completely omitted them.

I found that I really enjoyed it with a little sour cream. It seemed to emphasize that it was all about beefiness. We ate it on little corn tortillas. Or not.

beautiful recipe. Thank you for posting Marilyn and of course, to the cow.

No, but I did think about it. Does that make a difference? I thought of adding some rib bones

but the same problem. I live in an expensive city and my nearby store is the most ridiculous although it definitely has the best beef.

I found that reducing the sauce left insufficient. So I stopped and was glad I did.

It was all so enjoyable and will be again.

I don't know...that's why I'm asking. First time was beef with ox tails. Great! Next time

was pork with ox tail. Great. Third time was pork with beefy soup bones but no ox tails. That was still very good and much cheaper. So it's good information to know it tastes robust without the bone expenditure.

Damn that whole bone broth fad.

Whole foods had beef short ribs (with a lot of meat on 'em, also flanken? was available) on sale for $5.99, so I may go that route. Bought and froze some because they are regularly $9.99 at my local store.
