I finally saw a Rachael Ray show and a Barefoot Contessa show.

My inlaws have cable (we've never had it), and I got pulled into the Food Network.

Can't say I really cared for Ms. Ray--all that incessant perkiness would get to me. The next show was "The Barefoot Contessa" with Ina Gartner. The contrast between the two of them was almost comical! I found it really funny that these two shows were back to back.

And you really need to catch Joe's favorite...Semi Home Made...Note the colors of the appliances,

curtains, her outfit, etc....

LOL! Amanda, you'll also learn cool new words like "tablescape," and how to find cooking clothes...

at Victoria's Secret.

It's really unbelievable!

cooking clothes from Victoria's Secret.... ROTF all I can think of is which menu

would compliment which outfit '-)))

I know my husband will want to get me one of those catalogs.....

Oh MSM...thank you.

I have a major crush on Anthony Bourdain, and I just loved that webcast. Very entertaining. I love ad lib, and this was a great one. Please, please share any other things you find like this. I haven't been to B&N lately, but when i do, I will definitely check out the last dinner book. Thanks for the link!

No - you MUST go check out the book My Last Meal w/chefs including Bourdain

you will get a laugh out of it and understand why he brushed straight over the question about his feature in it. It threw me for a loop - a big loop - I get a BIG smile on my face and laugh every time I think about it. His photo is a full page (coffee table size) of him standing there stark naked holding a nice large cow femure in a very suggestive manner. Of course you could say it was because his last meal would be marrow bones but I am just not so sure about that photo - I can't (but can) believe he did that. That THEY did that. The rest of the book is just so different.

Does anyone remember the Cajun cook? It took the whole show to start getting some of the words! HA!

You mean Justin Wilson? He was & still is my dad's hero....

dad tried everything Justin did. Out whole house would smell of garlic. He did Justin's marinated fried shrimp once and I promise you that you could smell them a block away!!! Dad saw him in person before the tv show and was hooked. PBS where I grew up wasn't very good and that was the only show we ever watched on PBS. I didn't know PBS could be good until I moved to Nashville in '87 and discovered it.

My husband used to watch Justin every weekend......

He absolutely loved him! Is he still on? Alive? I haven't seen his program in years.

There was one program that really GOT me, though. He made squirrel head soup. ha I think that one did me in for watching him for awhile. Just not my idea of a tasty thing to eat. (maybe it would taste ok - but I couldn't get past the squirrel head, I'm sure..) ha

I thought he died YEARS ago but after this post this morning I found his website

and he only died in 2001. Here's the website if you are interested - no squirrel's head soup though. I have several of his cookbooks - now I am going to have to go see if the recipe is in there.

Oh, how fun, MCM! Thanks! I'll have to show this to my DH.

Two brothers who recently moved to Monett, MO - about 20 miles from us has recently opened a small restaurant called The Cajun Lunch Box. Really good stuff there!

No squirrel head soup, though. smileys/smile.gif Good thing or I'd probably stay away.

Their shrimp basket is wonderful. yum

I have cooking clothes!! - they consist of nearly see-through cotton t's>>

not see through as in mesh............see through as in they're so old & worn, you can see through the material smileys/smile.gif bottoms are usually plaid flannel lounge pants
