I got to go to Penzeys, I got to go to Penzeys...in Jacksonville. My first time in an actual

storefront. It was lovely. Everything in the catalog was in the store and there were apothecary jars of many of the spices available for smelling. Items are available in both the jars and larger amounts in the plastic bags just as I receive them mail order. The spices and herbs were arranged attractively by categories, making shopping easy. I had a list and managed to stick to it, except for shallot salt that smelled so good. The stores are so few and far between, I didn't think I'd get to see one. I think that was the highlight of my trip. Another good thing is that I can tell about it here and no one will say "what's Penzeys", lol!

Lucky you!!! There is a little tea shop in Seattle that has herbs and spice too..

I just go in to smell.
Shallot salt is wonderful!! List be damned you did good.
Please tell me the people there were nice and helpful?
Sounds like you had fun. Great

Curious, did n't you love being able to smell and see everything? I went to the one

in Torrance (I met fellow FKer Sandi in Hawaii there - fun) and I spent way more than I should have, but everything just looked and smelled *sooo* good!

Nan, the personal was very nice. One lady greeted us when we entered, and asked if we had any

questions, explained the layout to us, and stayed close by while we shopped, quick to assist where needed.

Thanks for the recs, will keep them in mind for the next time. I have so many of the basics, I can

usually whip up any mixes such as chili powder, etc, when needed.
