I'm Judy and I live in Massachusetts.

I found the Gail's Recipe Swap in October of 1995, and have been hooked on internet cooking forums (well, Gail's and this one) eversince!

I am a leading edge Baby-Boomer who learned how to REALLY cook watching Julia Child on PBS. My mother had taught me the basics, but my MIL turned me on to being adventurous, and Julia was cooking on my TV while my babies were napping.

I learned how to bake bread, take what was in the pantry and produce a meal, wander through the food stores and pick up interesting ingredients and then take them home and figure out what to do with them. A "Joy of Cooking" volume served as a marvelous reference for many of those ingredients.

My DH said he'd eat whatever I cooked, and he has been true to his word. Sometimes, I think he might have regretted that vow, but not for too long.

The kids (three great children, now grown and moved out) groused about what was put on their plates, occasionally, but they were the ones telling their 2nd grade classmates that artichokes were their favorite veggie, and refusing to trade their lunch sandwiches when they were on "turtle rolls"!

I feel like I have a new extended family, with all the marvelous folks I have met through the internet. The family knows when I say I'm making something I got from Gail's or FK, that they are getting a winner!

I love trying new cuisines and new foods...so this venue is fantastic! I know when I have a question, someone here will have an answer. I hope I can contribute once in a while, to compensate for all I take away.

Thank you Mimi, for filling a gap left by the demise of Epicurious. This is a great place for foodies to gather.
