?? I had a fun dinner in NYC, one of the dishes was mini meatballs served with a small injector fill

filled with sauce. It was a fun dish. You picked up the meatball by the injector, ate and gave a squeeze to the injector for a hit of the sauce. Really interesting, different way to serve up an appetizer. They were disposable. Any thoughts on what they are / where to purchase? I would love to use them on christmas eve.

Best,

Barb

Were they just a couple inches long? We used to use a short pipette

for appetizers at a caterer I worked with a few years ago. The pipette was filled with a basil oil sauce and speared a cherry tomato and cube of mozzarella. Sort of like a caprese salad on a skewer. The idea is to place the nibble in your mouth then pull it off the pipette as you squeeze the pipette bulb to release the sauce in your mouth. Fun and very popular with guests.

Are the ones at the link anything like what you had?

They must have cut it down to size for the meatball. It was fun. Thanks Charley and Pat!

Hmmm, they might be called "mini flavor injectors" according to one of the phots

photos at THIS site (if you can stand another link to check out, LOL).

edited to add: Did some googling for mini flavor injectors and so far the shortest I've found are these that are 2-3/4" long.

This gave me a chuckle... (more)

two things we use in the lab A LOT are agar and these little plastic pipettes

I simply cannot get over the "lab-association" with agar, and simply cannot make any concoction using it (the smell takes me back right away to plates with bacteria growing on them.. smileys/wink.gif

the little pipettes we buy in gazillion numbers - some people prefer to use them to adjust pH of solutions (they are resistant to strong acid and bases) - but I am an old fashioned lady, and prefer Pasteur pipets, glass, elegant, very "posh"

Ha! You can use Pipettes for mini servings of a soup!! I went to a party a few years ago, and

they did that, complete with using the pipette server as a holder.

Yes! They were fun, different and certainly a conversation starter. They were served with a

mini meatball and a swedish meatball sauce.
Thanks everyone for tracking them down. I had never seen anything like it!

Speaking of mini soups, they are fun to serve in demitasse cups and

we do that a lot in the catering world as both a passed appetizer and stationary, though hot soups are better as a passed appetizer. No saucer needed nor spoon so of course smoother soups are best though we recently passed a thin clam chowder in demitasse and it was a big hit.

I'm with you, Sally! Can't get past my science lab kit in my classroom.

just pulled out the bag of pipettes for my 2nd graders to do plant observations with varying amounts of water conditions.
