I had lunch yesterday with the reporter from our local newspaper.

I told her my idea (thank you, Marianne) about the lunch delivery. She loved it. She went back and talked to the business writer and she said it was a great idea and people are hungry for it. She suggested the businesses that I should concentrate on.

In our conversation, she told me that she would like to start a farmer's market in a different place then it is now; a new one. She told me the location, and it is brilliant. So much traffic goes by, and there is so much parking. I suggested Sunday instead of Saturday because we are not competing with the market in St. Joe or K.C. We may even be able to get the KC vendors to come down. I may be a little too optimistic about that, but, hey, we live in an agricultural community. I would love to help the local farmers.

We are shooting for next year to open up a market. It is such a good fit. I am really excited. The FM I am trying to get into is so down. The vendors are crabby, no music, just people sitting in their chairs looking at you when you pass by their stands. That is one of the reasons I was excited about this market. I thought I could bring some much needed energy, good energy to it. Going to it is like listening to some really sad slow music when you are already depressed.

My gut feeling is that they are not going to let me in, and steal my ideas for products off my application. I will know the second Tuesday in April; one week before the market opens, thank you very much.

I just have to keep a positive attitude and energy. It's infectious. And this town needs it.

It may all be a pipe dream, but it is a really good one, and it has me smiling.

Keep smiling! This sounds wonderful for you! Never mind the trolls under the bridge

or the ones sitting in their chairs! smileys/tongue.gif

I can think of no better qualified energetic visionary. Great success comes when you help others...

...achieve their own success.

They don't realize it yet, but what they need is MO Dawn!

It has me smiling, too, Dawn. And I'm proud to have been a source of some ideas for you.

We have several FM's in our area, and they are open on different days, and some are open late in the afternoon, (like after work), so the vendors get more than one day, time, and customer base to offer their stuff. None are open on Sunday, but I'd be curious about how that would work out.

They always have music, there are local musicians who love to perform and plug their CD's, or High School and College bands (small groups, like jazz bands) who get a chance to play before an audience.

Some of the gardening clubs will sponsor tasting events, and the best one is the tomato sandwich tasting and competition. The Herb Society likes to show off their uses for herbs, too. And the vendors offer tasting samples, too, honey, bread, vinegars, jams and jellies, etc.

Why shouldn't "they" let you into the FM? If you do join them, I bet your booth will be very popular simply because of your friendliness and enthusiasm. You will make people want to visit with you.

Keep us posted, and Good Luck!!!
