My nephew came here for a week, and we took him to the theme parks and so on, which was great fun, even in the heat. My sister sent me a fabulous WS gift card to say thank you (she called elder DD and asked where I loved to shop, but couldn't). One of the things I want is the Ikon knife and scissor sharpener. DH thinks I'm crazy, and should just use the stone, but I'd like the convenience. There is a cheaper Wusthof sharpener, but I'm not sure cheaper is a good thing when it comes to sharpening my knives. I'm also going to buy the Santoku knife sharpener.

Are these things I should buy?

I use this $10 thingy to keep my knives sharp

I did invest in the expensive 3 stage Chef's Choice sharpener which never seemed to work. Of course I may have been the part of that equation at fault. But after going to my SIL's house and using one of these it was perfect for me. A couple of swipes and my knife is as sharp as ever. I do invest in taking them to be professionally sharpened about once a year, but in between I just use this and love it.
