I have marg's permission to ask if anyone would like to adopt DJ's unit and send a package...

...for the Holidays for him and his buddies, please send me a PM. I'll fill you in on the details as marg sends them to me.

Woo hoo!

By the way Michael, will it be done the same way - mailed to Marg or you, then overseas?

I know that meant the cookies had to sit around for 3-4 weeks before they got to the troop.

Michael count me in, I live in Phoenix too, so it will be easy for me to give you my portion just

me know what I have to do, I've never done this before but I want to participate.

cheezz, was there a link to this post?? I want to join in, but need the do's and don't's. Thanks!

I sent him a package 2 weeks ago and my office wants to send some for Christmas. I'll do it

from up here, as it's easier for me to just package up the stuff and send it directly to him.

As long as it's addressed to a serviceman and not just the unit, it's OK for anyone to mail. Flat

rate boxes from the post office are great for this. You can pack baked goods, and then stuff it full of fillers like nuts or hard candy or socks or whatever---it can be as heavy as you can make it, same price. I left my bar cookies in 2 half sheet pieces and wrapped them together well, then filled my box with snack pack nuts and chewing gum and halloween packaged twizzlers and jolly ranchers and bubble gum and crystal lite individual packets. These filled the box up but didn't smash the baked goods---at least I hope they didn't. I used one of the bar cookie recipes from the Nestle site.
And you have to fill out a Customs Form with details of the contents.

I will let everyone know when I get the specifics from marg, including when he will...

...be back in Iraq.

He was in the States recently, and I'm sure marg filled him full of goodies while he was home!
