I have posted my bio in "Who are you?" for those who are interested....

Can't I say all of it? smileys/wink.gif

But if you must have specifics, I loved the waffles (gauffres) you'd get at little stands in the subway stations--as you walked by, the scent of dough and sugar would waft up the subway stairs. Heavenly.

Also the frites. I think my favorite meal was mussels cooked in their own juice. Once you were done with the mussels, you'd dump your frites in the leftover sauce--so good.

Also the Neuhaus chocolates at our local patisserie...and the bread. My mother used to send me to get bread and I'd eat half the loaf on the way home.

Well, I can certainly say you've had an incredible opportunity eating wonderful food, I could almost

smell those waffles as you were describing them.
The bread! I love bread more than sweets!
What wonderful memories you have.

Amanda, what fruit was your mother in the poem? it sounds like an interesting and loving challenge.

It was a great, great posting.

We moved back to the States when I was sixteen. But we all came back twenty pounds heavier (over four years). I think that was the beginning of my struggles with weight. Sigh. But such good food...
