I have to share this--bakery and catering page of a college friend. Hibiscus cake!

One of my friends from college, Dani, was always talented in the fine arts, and started a cake business in the last couple of years. I think she won an Ace of Cakes contest, last year. In any case, her latest creation is an orange and red Hawaiian-themed cake for a one-year-old, but fit for a queen!

Anyway, thought you'd enjoy some of the photos of her creations. She seems to excel at both kids' themed cakes and wedding cakes. If I lived in Georgia, my wallet and I would be in trouble.

(Okay, but seriously--what one-year-old gets that kind of cake?! How are the parents going to top that when she's two?) smileys/wink.gif

I hadn't thought about that.

But I still want that cake. Maybe in white, though. smileys/wink.gif White with orange hibiscus!

(How much do you think it would be, total, to make and overnight that sucker to New York? Probably a thousand bucks. I'll have to settle for a rainbow popsicle.)

I am curious about the dye, but I know her sons also have a list of food allergies a mile long, so I imagine she has experience in dye-free stuff... Maybe this client didn't care, though.

Yes, came through it fine...

even though we had logs from the woodpile blowing across the yard. It was crazy here for about 45 minutes. AND?

We didn't lose electricity!!!

(We usually lose electricity in any storm that huffs and puffs because of all the trees were we live.)

The inquisitiveness of Dachshunds...

I had gathered up all the limbs and branches after the storm and piled them in a heap on the motorcourt.

The boys just went outside for the "we're going to bed" last chance, and they circled the pile of branches non-stop (this is new!) until I finally had to say enough! Go do your business!

I had to to drive them away from the pile of debris. Go do your business!

Grudgingly. We obliged.

If nothing else, the storm watered everything and provided inquisitive Dachshunds something to dream about...

Glad you're all ok!

Did you know that same storm went on to barrel through Virginia in the last half hour? (And it was the same storm that formed in Chicago, the day before, I think.) They're called "bow echo," or "derecho," storms when they have that characteristic hook on the trailing left edge of the storm and just keep plowing ahead with wind shear. Scary.
