A lil' slice of childhood bites the dust. I mean, it's not a road trip without those little powdered donuts that spill sugar all over you because you can't find anything else to eat at the gas station. Or cupcakes with the squiggle on top.

I wonder if someone else will buy/produce their products?

Hostess = The Undead of Foods

not living, not dead
not food, but edible (unholy) goodness...

Hard to believe that some competitor or otherwise would not snatch up those brands. Wonder Bread represents all that is wrong with the world... But on a wild tangent I'm wondering what will Arthur Bryants now serve their BBQ pork on...? (So many mixed emotions)

But seriously it is very sad that all of those people are now out of work

I was at Sam's this afternoon and a young couple was buying about 20 boxes of the mixed 8 twinkies &

8 cupcakes. When they got the boxes stacked on the conveyer belt, they took pictures. I think they wiped them out.

nice thing about those Twinkies is that they can put them in a time capsule and 1,000 years from now

their decedents can enjoy them exactly as they are today.

These are my favorite too. Maybe I'm in Q-denial, but I'm hoping that another

company will buy them and they will go on. 'Can't image such a junk-food business would go untapped.(

I didn't really realize how many brands this hits - a list from their website

Hostess Brands are:

Hostess
Wonder

Dolly Madison
Home Pride
Merita
Drake's
Beefsteak

Listed as Regional Favorites:

Eddy's
Ozark Mill
Butternut
J.J. Nissen
Bread de Jour
Pantry Pride
Sunbeam
Sweetheart
Grandma Emilie's
Cottons Holsum
Colombo (this is the sourdough bread we have)
Standish Farms

There was a Hostess bakery in my home town years ago--when they baked twinkles or those orange...

cupcakes, you could small it for blocks.

Our 5th grade class even got a tour--and free cupcakes---and milk.

I remember my Mom taking us to the discount store, she was so disappointed that I did not like

sweets. My sister made out like a bandit with the twinkies, etc. I still wanted a "normal snack" of cottage cheese and fruit or a cucumber sandwich, etc...(Which was much more time consuming & $$).

Faux Hostesss Chocolate Cream-Filled Cupcakes???

I think not!

Look at the recipe, quality chocolate, cream, butter...

They've replaced 50% of the Hostess trash ingredients (high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, gelatin, cornstarch, water, soy protein isolate, genetically modified corn starch, celluose gum, agar, potassium sorbate, guar gum, artificial colors, gelatin, dextrose, calcium carbonate, artificial flavors, mono and diglycerides, sorbitan, monostearate, polysorbate 60, propylene glycol, xanthan gum, soy lecithin, and glycerine wheat) with high quality food sources.

Trash food cornersewers would reject this quality imposter posing as a Hostess product.

Good riddance to Hostess' trash posing as food.
