(Help in this case was flipping the alredy made latkes and stacking them on the trays.) My friend had a latke party last night. She and her family made 180 latkes yesterday from this Washington Post recipe and they were fabulous! I did not realize how labor intensive they are to make, cooking them up seemed to be the easy part.
She also made 3 different briskets, "standard" beef brisket, barbecue brisket and cranberry brisket. They must have all been delicious because every last morsel was devoured. Her crowd was very ethnically diverse so she was very good about explaining all the dishes and a bit of the tradition.
There were many high school/college kids there as she has two teenage daughters, so after dinner the kids all read aloud the "Hanukkah Story"-each person taking a couple of paragraphs. Then they did the lighting of the candles and recited the prayer. What an honor to be part of someone elses tradition!
