I hope everyone in Hawaii is safely on high ground: Sandi, Cathy Z and anyone I've missed.

I have a cousin in a hotel on the beach on Maui. He's there on business, and he says they are trying to evacuate everyone to high ground.

He says there's not a whole lot of high ground around that area.

We're praying for him, and for all those affected by the quake in Chile.

We're just sitting around, waiting to see what happens. Cathy, I, too, hope you're okay.

As far as your friend in Maui, they're doing a vertical evacuation, meaning if you're in an inundation zone, you move to the third floor or higher.

Easy to do in Waikiki, since there are a lot of high rises, but not as easy in Maui, with a lot of little hotels.

It is worrisome, so we're crossing our fingers. I've had the tv on since 6:00am, when the first emergency sirens went off.

Thanks for thinking of us.

I'm thinking of you 2 as well----I know you both are in pretty high ground and inland enough. I hope

It should lose steam by the time it reaches Alaska.

I haven't heard from my cousin, but the news reports are generally good.

I thank God it wasn't worse, and I hope the people in Chile are not suffering like they did (and still do) in Haiti.

I think we had 3 or 4 waves, about 3 feet high. No damage anywhere, thank goodness.

Just a day off for the people that work on Saturdays. Sad for all the retail businesses that lost a day of sales, though.

Yes, we are all fine. Thanks to everyone for the kind thoughts. Sandi, did everyone

panic buy over there? Here the gas stations ran out of fuel, people stood in lines to get in the grocery stores and the usual stuff was gone- toilet paper, bottled water, lotsa Spam smileys/smile.gif

Crazy. Back to normal now.

Yes, everyone panicked here too. They said that there were lines at Walmart at 3:00am!

Friend said she bought a case of Spam, even though she doesn't eat Spam, just cause everyone else was buying it.

I don't know if the gas stations ran out of gas, but I know there were lines of up to 40 cars at a time. Crazy!

I just sat at home (we had lots of water, and toilet paper smileys/smile.gif and watched the news.

We were lucky that was a Saturday.
