I just bought a Simac IlGelatio 1600 Ice Cream Maker off Ebay, but it didn't come with instructions.

looks easy enough except I can't figure out if the bowl is removeable (Please tell me it is) and how to remove it:(

Does anyone have this old machine???

It's really neat - HEAVY sucker, but it will be a total PIA if that bowl doesn't come out!!!

Help!!

(I have researched - now made by DeLonghi but haven't found an old manual)

Ref Manual and bowl... (Longish)...

Hi
Have emailed our local Simac guy (they are very good) hopefully they can locate a manual or pdf of one ill let you know when they reply

as to the bowl, the machine makes good icecream but Nope the bowl wasnt removable,
bit of a pain to clean ( i know my kitchen hands hated it ) A Good Silicone Spatula helps immensely,
I Used to churn till just done then transfer to a tub to harden in the freezer (when it wasnt eaten first smileys/smile.gif
a spritzer bottle and lots of paper towel helps cleaning too

REC: My Moms Quick Cheat Ic Base

Hey, This may seem strange but it works well, final texture is slightly icy sorta between gelati and ice cream

She mixes 1 400g tin sweetened condensed milk, 1 375ml tin evaporated milk, a pinch of salt (kosher) 150 ml of milk, then flavours it as required, expresso coffee syrup, pureed fruit, whatever takes your fancy, then churns it till stiffish,

I like toasted coconut, dried cherries and a good slug of a coconut liqueur in it,
Cheers

KiwiChris - Thanks so much for all your help and recipe! Great tips.

why, oh why, isn't that bowl removable?? I saw on the new machines that it is. Crazy design flaw.
Sigh..
Good idea about the spritz bottle...
Your Mom's ice cream sounds delicious. I will give it a try.
Thanks again!
