I just finished "Give a Girl a Knife" by Amy Thielen, wonderful book!

I was not aware of her--missed her cooking show completely--but a friend of mine who grew up in the same part of Minnesota as she did loaned me this memoir and I loved it. If follows her and her artist husband from the Midwest to NYC and back, as she works in some of the best fine dining kitchens in New York, then rediscovers her rural roots. A delicious story. I can't recommend it enoughhttps://www.amazon.com/product-reviews/0307954900

I grew up near where the meat market is. I spent a lot of money in there

Fabulous meats. The bacon! The sausages! Ask for any cut of any kind of meat and it was prepared perfectly. Last time I was there was before Amy's show hit and it was still the same as when I used to frequent it. I imagine now things have changed. I'll be going back next year and will see for myself.
