I just had one of the best salads in my life - Trader Joe's Pomegranate Salad

It is composed of mixed greens, finely diced red bell peppers, pomegranate seeds, and two disks of goat cheese coated with sliced almonds, and a few leaves of endive.

It is indescribably delicious, and for all the varieties of greens in it, it is not worth driving all over town when I can buy it all prepped and ready to go for about $4. If you haven't tried it yet, pick one up the next time you are at TJs.

Greens:

Red & Green Oak

Red & Green Romaine

Lollo Rosa

Tango

Red & Green Chard

Tatsoi

Mizuna

Red Mustard

Redina

Frisee

Dressing:

Canola Oil

Red Wine Vinegar

Dijon Mustard

Sugar

Salt

Pepper

Garlic

Parsley

Many, many people in this AZ city wrote to TJ's asking them to locate here.

At first they were polite in telling us no. Then they got more curt in their replies. I guess a comminity that is agriculture based in the summer and snowbird oriented in the winter doesn't appeal to them.

I love all of the salads, too. And I agree, I wouldn't live anywhere that didn't have TJs -

my sister always gets upset at me when I say that. But she's the one who takes back half a suitcase of Trader Joe's stuff every time she visits here....not to mention the stuff I bring to her when we visit.

Isn't it fun? In addition to the pomegranate salad, try the spinach & cranberry, or the

roasted beet & goat cheese ones.

Sigh. Going to Seattle in Feb and TJs is a must stop. Last year I picked up some

German chocolate wreaths, very thin small wafers of chocolate topped with sprinkles and I used them on top of mini brownie cups---pressing the wreaths on top of the hot brownies to adhere. They were the biggest hit of my Xmas treats. I hope I can find some more, and get them back up here in one piece. One of my packages was all broken up. I sprinkled on the colorful broken pieces anyway. I have never tried any of their "fresh" foods, but will definitely try these salads.

I've said this before & I'll say it again- I HATE all of you who have a Trader Joes, and to make

matters worse, you show no mercy on those of us who don't. Not fair to flaunt all those delectable things you can buy over there, while we peasants are stuck without!

(((Meryl))). I'll try the salad, but maybe I won't like it. Don't like goat cheese.

I'll let you know smileys/smile.gif

Ang, that salad sounds great with or without it, you lucky thing - Save the goat cheese for me -

I love it!

LisainLA-thanks for the idea, that's my problem, use to live there >>

and know what TJ's is all about. Tx. has nothing even close to.

TJs have different inventory and not all my have something like

those wreaths. You may have to make a little TJ's pilgrimage while in Seattle! If you're staying downtown, there are several in the area (Queen Anne, Madison Park/Capitol Hill, and U District.)

As a side note, many people coming to Seattle don't know about Big John's PFI (http://amasci.com/pfi/). Have you been there yet? Many of the visiting authors and chefs go there...and think it's amazing.

PFI is also dangerously close to the legendary Salumi (http://www.salumicuredmeats.com/)...

YUM!

Oh no, more places to visit and cash to drop while in Seattle. We usually go to the tjs in U distr

Did you know that with our Alaska ID, we are tax exempt in WA? Nifty.

Traca's recommendations are excellent. Salumi is owned by Mario Batali's father.

Also, I'm sure you know about the Market Spice shop, Ang.
