I just saw where Two-Buck Chuck Chardonnay beat out all the competition and got a gold...

That's just not right! It is a funny story, though, if I heard correctly as to why it's priced that

way.

This might belong under the TJ post above ...

Two Buck Chuck is a private label for Trader Joes. Just have to hope the wine doesn't expire smileys/smile.gif

Our local news ran a bit on it this morning that showed a blind taste test with a sommelier (sp) from a very upscale restaurant that compared it to their wine list, including a pricey $159 wine. Two Buck Chuck came in dead last and the expensive stuff was second to last. Guess it's all up to the individual taste buds.

I found it amazing that an entire panel of wine judges could come to this...

...conclusion.

One or two people, maybe. Not a panel.

Michael

PS: I use Chuck's for cooking, but if I have a choice I drink something else.

my experience

I had my first two buck chuck when visiting my aunt and uncle in Oakdale near Sacramento last November. Good grief. It was the Cabernet, not The Chardonnay, and I can say that it was only drinkable totally cold. Something you should of course never do with Cabernet. Awful stuff. Ok, having said that, that stuff is made in massive quantities and the quality varies hugely. Some is okay and most is awful. cheers, Bonnie

Hey, you've been missed. That's what I've heard about it, some drinkable, some awful. No TJ's here,

The Merlot is more drinkable than the cabernet. Not too bad, actually. The 4-buck

bottles of Italian wine at TJ's are at least twice as good.
