The doc told me that, surprisingly, pineapple is often linked to food poisoning...who knew!

 
I read about baked potatoes and botulism years ago. . .

If it is low acid (most vegetables fall into this category) and has a portion that does not come into contact with air (is "anaerobic"), it can support the growth of the spores that create the botulism toxin. Bad stuff, it can very easily kill one with just a little of it.
