It's a great idea, but when Safeway bought our local grocer, they put in a gas station, liquor store
and a Starbucks. These are within yards of locally owned gas station, liquor store and espresso stand. I just can't bring myself to do business with any of them in my town.
I do shop at the Safeway for some things, they do have nice produce and some of their store brands are great, otherwise I shop at a smaller local store who actually has better presale prices.
But must admit, I am a bit of a shopping slut, when in Seattle shopping for the ship, went to Safeway and spent enough to get .80 a gallon off. Used my card and my company loved it.
And I seem to notice the local shops are still doing well, gosh I hope so!
Hope this wasn't rude, but in a small town on an island, figure we have to support the people who have been here with us through thick and thin.
((((holiday hugs))))
