I live in Alberta - today we are the coldest spot on earth! Literally.

But we're a hearty bunch and what can you do but invite friends over for a casual dinner of chicken marbella and Dorrie Greenspan's Apple cake.

It is the third day of -30 and a windchill of -41!

Been feeling sorry for you . We're actually near 0 on the west coast & I forget just how this can

feel. I can still sit on my balcony in the sun without even a sweater on but once that sun disappears, I'm in. Whatever brought all this to us needs to crawl back into its hole. Stay warm, and yes, it's a great excuse for consoling foods.

Glad you didn't end up in that massive highway disaster!!

I'll not complain any more -

My house is so poorly insulated that even with the heater on we can't get the inside temp up much past 65ºF. I'll stick with what I've got, though...smileys/wink.gif

Me neither. I was ranting at the universe earlier today because the high was only in the 50's.

Oh I don't meant to complain. Besides the weather alert

in the paper - there was another article that said 1 out of every 10 jobs in Canada is generated in our( little) city of Edmonton. So there's work if you can live with the cold.
All's good - the companionship at dinner was enjoyable and tomorrow it's "getting to -19" smileys/smile.gif)

I know..glad I'm not at that game, the 'stick is wicked cold (for real)...

All kidding aside, I just checked my lemon tree and though I've been covering it, there are signs of freeze damage. A week of this on top of a drought - not good. I'm struggling to keep my starter going (after recovering it) in this cold as well. Right now I've moved it under a heat vent in the bathroom because I got no activity after a refresh at the 12 hr mark (and below 55F in the house overnight).

Boo to spare the air days - they are always on the days you want to use the fireplace.

Waiting for the big game -- I fear Seattle is going to cream us, thank goodness at least this is a 49er home game.

Our big guy is wrapped in frost cloth, and we put construction lights on the ground shinning up

into it. Could not get the very top wrapped but it is new growth and does not have lemons. This cold snap is very cold but we did enjoy snow for two days and it is still on the ground.

It was bitter cold out today, it was 34 when I got up this morning.

and my building's steam heat only comes on briefly... Thank goodness I have a space heater. Kuri pumpkin soup really helped too. Brrrr!

i'm not really posting this but i miss the cold...it's in the mid 80's here with lows in the 60's...

i want snow. Sorry. I'm tired of sweating.
