I love the induction cooktop I gifted myself in December

and I see that the TATUNG TICT-1500W Induction Cook Top is (still?) on special at Newegg for the $49.49 I paid, including the single burner range/hot plate, Stainless Steel induction Pot with glass lid and free shipping, once you apply the $20 off promo code EMCPWWC87, ends 1/23.

We have ours plugged in on our glasstop stove and I am using it and the pot almost exclusively to cook, rewarm, and hold. It's quick hot on and then off.

Lots of favorable reviews and tips online. Colleen

I've seen the ads for the NuWave induction cooktop, but since I've never...

...cooked with an induction top, I've resisted even doing the research on it.

Glad to know your Tatung model is a winner!

thanks for the review----this would be handy to have at our cabin site for a cooking element in

the little bunkhouse that has no kitchen but electricity. hmmmmmm. might have to pick it up soon.

I think they'd be really handy if you cooked a lot of pasta or stir fry

I hear they can bring large quantities of water to a boil very quickly & maybe get hot enough for a wok.

or eggs, or soup, or leftovers, grilled cheese, chops, burgers

I never expected to have it become the go-to cooking surface. So fast to deliver the heat! And easy to clean. Cook and wash and cook again smileys/wink.gif Colleen

Highly portable

I took it to our son's for New Years to rewarm baked beans and hold through dinner. All pieces are lightweight. Some reviewers have had issue with durability of surfaces - plastic - but I take that into account and don't expect the unit to do what it can't. Colleen

My son has talked about upgrading to an induction stove

in his kitchen - he needs new appliances! So he got me curious. The stoves are expensive - okay. For DH and I, do we really need a stove (nor does DS for his own needs)?

So when this unit popped on Newegg, I was ready to "try." If this experiment continues well, I might invest in a better 1 or 2 burner unit. Instead, probably would get a second Tatung unit for back-up, at this point. Colleen

now this is another good selling point---bring it along to potlucks etc for another burner option
