favorable comments from the guests who attended my nephew's HS graduation Open House over in Cleveland on 6/28. Thanks, Pat!
Aunt Caryn (aka Wigs) was asked to do part of the cooking so I used Pat's recipe as one of the entrees offered. My sister who is mother of the grad converted 16 lbs of roasts into shredded beef BBQ which was also served on buns and also totally cleaned up.
About 50 of my nephew's track and Cross-Country friends/comrades attended his bash along with roughly 100 additional adults. Could those kids ever eat! Most were in training so on average each one will consume 5,000 to 6,000 calories PER DAY because of all the miles they are jogging! They sure put the food away, so 'twas a very good thing I'd calculated making double food amounts for each of the athletes as we had plenty of eats.

Cute story: I'd baked 4 pans of what I call Turtle Brownies (same REC as Mimi's "Knock You Naked Brownies" in T&T except my recipe calls for using a Swiss Chocolate Cake Mix), and the squares were sitting on a pedestal cake plate on the dessert table. After things were semi-caught up in the kitchen, I decided to pick up the brownie plate and walk it around to the various guests to offer seconds.
At one table of track stars, 3 of the young men each took another brownie, but the 4th one politely declined so I inquired, "Oh, are you in a real strict training program where you absolutely cannot eat desserts or anything with sugar?" "No," he replied, 'it's just that those were so good, I've already eaten 10 of them!"
In addition to her Beef BBQ, my sister also made tons of scalloped potatoes, lots of spinach dip served w/ crackers, and had several bowls of assorted grapes sitting around.
I made a huge crudites platter with basic herb dip; 3 recipes of Four-Cheese Spinach Macaroni; 2 Taco Dip Platters; 4 REC of Broccoli Slaw w/ Cranberries (except I used dried cherries since it was a summer party); and there was also the traditional bakery bought & decorated cake.
All my recipes are posted here at FK except for maybe the Taco Dip Platter which is similar to many I've seen here but just a tad different so I'll post separately.
I'm sure glad that gig is over with! I wouldn't have missed doing it for the world, but this old aunt was pooped afterward, and when we left the following day, I slept in the car for 4 of the 5 hours it took us to travel back home while DH drove.
