I made stewed prunes & apricots to take with my oatmeal

This was a winter staple growing up. I had forgotten it too. I think my mom was trying to address

seasonal constipation but I just thought it was delicious.

We just ate it for breakfast in a bowl with the syrup.

Mom made stewed rhubarb in spring too.

 
well, heck...doesn't your liver have anything to say about this? I mean, your intestinal

track seems to be ruling the roost here.

Honestly, I heard a collective moan from oat lovers out there who--ever so briefly--envisioned brandy in their morning wake-up bowl of fiber.

And the world was a happier place.
