I need to jazz up the appearance of chocolate chip cookie bars for work Holiday party

I tried to simplify life by writing "cookie bars" on the sign-up list, but six people have stopped by my desk and asking what I'm bringing.

"umm, cookie bars?"

Now I feel the pressure to ramp up the appearance with...what?? A layer of chocolate mousse? Shiny ganache? It will have to travel an hour and then be transported 1/4 mil from the parking lot, so it can't be too fragile.

PS: Apparently my reputation precedes me. For other work luncheons, I brought in:

*limoncello tiramisu

*sweet potato pie with pecan cookie crust

*Daisy Martinez' Flan

*multi-layer chocolate cake

Just so I understand - you are going to make your own cookie

bars and then dip them in one (or both?) of these ganaches (can one pluralize ganache)?
I'm in the midst of making Supernatural Brownies by Nick Malgieri posted on this site - and am wondering if they need to be jazzed up???
Thanks
Betty

Yes...I was simply going to bring in a pan of baked cookie dough. Now everyone seems disappointed.

So I'm hoping to jazz up the appearance fairly easily. I'll bake & cut them into smaller squares than I was planning, then dip/drizzle a chocolate ganache on them. Then do a white candy coating squiggle. Put them in individual fru-fru papers.

I already have the cookie dough made from another event...that's teach me.

Not sure why I wasn't getting that smileys/smile.gif but thanks. I'm sure

they'll be delicious.

Nope, you get clean "squirt" marks

This is one of the tricks I always use to doctor up a mix if I've got no time to make something from scratch. I toss in some chopped chocolate, squirt the top of the brownies with a pretty pattern, and folks think they are from scratch, but I've done it with actual from scratch brownies as well. The syrup marks come out darker. I've just used plain ol' Hershey syrup and squirt some on right before putting in the oven..

It's a great idea. I've always added chocolate toppings after stuff has come out of the oven.

I was sure it would all melt if added before baking. I'll have to try this - Do you think it would work with cookies?

This thread was making me wonder if it would work with cookies or bars...

I don't know. With cookies that spread maybe not, but I might try it with others as long as it wasn't too thick/wet. Brownie batter is much wetter than cookies/bars.

Thank you both! We just received an email that our group is okay...until January at least.

Now I can breathe through the holidays before the next round starts.
